Bird Feeders and Ladybugs

Today we made bird feeders with pinecones, peanut butter, and birdseed. First, we got the pinecones ready...

Next, we rolled the pinecones in peanut butter to make them all sticky!

Then we took our super sticky pinecones and rolled them in birdseed. We loved to see how the seeds would stick!

We took them outside to hand on trees, but we were pretty adamant that they go on the ground!

We came back inside and put our extra pinecones in our sensory table with the feathers! It was a great contrast to the super soft feathers!

We had a special delivery in the mail today...ladybug larvae! The kids were very excited and wanted to make sure we did everything just right. Luckily, the ladybugs came with a lot of information for us to learn about them!

They arrived in a special container. It was neat to get our first look at them!

The instructions said we needed to put a few drops of water on the felt pad with a pipette...

and then gently shake the larvae into the habitat...

They were so tiny! You can see one of them on the side of Avilee's finger!

We used the magnifying glass on top of the habitat to get a better look...

We also looked at a model ladybug larvae. This gave us a better look since it was so much bigger...

Mason knew all these big kids were looking at something in here!

Have a fantastic weekend!
